Hi! When I was 8 years old I received a Christmas present that has stayed with me forever. A diagnosis of Type 1 Diabetes.

Despite myriad complications – high blood pressure before I was 20, blindness caused by retinopathy, a kidney transplant, multiple heart attacks and cellulitis/osteomyelitis resulting in a below the knee amputation, I have refused to allow these obstacles prevent me from living life to the fullest.

I am now 60 and want to share my experiences with you. I’m turn, I hope you, your family and friends will share some of your stories with me.

What’s on your mind? Ask me anything. I will try to answer your questions as best I can. If needed, I will reach out to experts who can.

My goal is to make this a place to learn and explore and laugh. Sometimes crying or laughing are the only options left, but laughing always feels better.
